Hans Anderson Brendekilde was a nineteenth century Danish artist who excelled in quite a lot of media. He started his creative life as a sculptor however in his maturity dedicated himself solely to oils and pastel. His work are sometimes on a really massive scale creating pleasant enveloping vistas of the gorgeous Danish countryside. He painted evocative panorama work, harsh social realist topics and dramatic depictions of spiritual topics.
About 1885 he began to color large-scale works with landscapes and forests with white anemones and recent inexperienced leaves, like ‘The primary anemones’. With the photographic impact within the composition of landscapes and figures and the “tough” brushstrokes, Brendekilde elaborates a poetic illustration of the concord between nature and man.
